To undertake a tree condition survey of trees adjacent PRoW and properties
The majority of Savernake Estate is privately owned but leased to the Forestry Commission, however small disparate land parcels are within Trustee ownership. We undertook a walk-over tree survey to identify trees with defects that could impact PRoW or property. This included surveying a tree that had been struck by lightning in a playing field too.
With the onset of ash dieback across the majority of the ash population within the site, a pragmatic and cost efficient solution was required for the ongoing management of trees within influencing distance of public areas. We provided a suite of recommendations to ensure the Estate is meeting its legal duty of care in regards to tree management and could easily be implemented to minimise tree related risk in the future.
