Introduction:

Tree Frontiers were initially approached by Zesta Planning, a chartered town planning and development consultancy based in Cheltenham. Zesta had been appointed as the planning consultants for the development scheme. Having worked with us previously, Zesta were aware of our expertise in offering practical advice on managing trees as assets to a development site and invited us to quote for the relevant arboricultural inputs to the design process.

Project Description:

The proposed plans were for an infill development of five high-quality residential properties within the village of Shurdington. The site consisted of disused paddocks with intermittent tree cover. The intention was to retain the vast majority of the tree stock and a detailed tree survey of the site at the start of the design process helped inform the design layouts.

It was evident that a poor quality boundary hedgerow and some of the low-quality internal trees would need to be removed to facilitate the design scheme. Fortunately the majority of the higher quality boundary features could be retained and remain free from significant harm, either to the rooting environment or tree canopy.

We provided detailed reports and plans to support the planning submission to Tewkesbury Council and consent was granted at planning committee in early April. We are looking forward to providing more detailed tree protection measures and supporting onsite construction works when ground is broken.
